By the 1st July 2023, Google Analytics will be upgraded to a new and improved version of the free website tracking software. The current software, GA3, will be replaced by the latest upgrade, GA4.
GA3 was the third release of Google Analytics and has been the main workspace version since 2012. GA3 only allows you to track websites, whereas GA4 will allow you to track applications and websites. Additionally, GA4 is using a brand new model that measures parameters and events within a new lineup of metrics.
Why is Google analytics important to your business?
Google analytics is a free tracking software that provides a wealth of data regarding your website’s performance. The data is crucial to help improve your ROI, understand your visitors’ behaviours, target your marketing, improve your SEO and Ads performance and to develop new, fresh business strategies.
What happens if you are a client of Fruitful Marketing?
At Fruitful Marketing, we understand how important analytics are to businesses and making informed decisions, so we have made the update to all of our clients’ Google Analytics accounts already, five months ahead of the deadline.
So, how can you prepare yourself for the launch of GA4?
You can still access the data from your existing Universal Analytics GA3 property up until the 1st July but it is important that you export your previous GA3 reports in plenty of time before the launch date.
If, however, it slips your mind, don’t panic! Even after the 1st July, you have 6 months where you can access previous data in your GA3 property. You won’t be able to access it after the six month period, so it must be done within this time frame.
Google Analytics has sent all business owners an email detailing step-by-step how you can smoothly customise your GA4 as soon as possible. If you are having difficulties updating, call the Fruitful Marketing team on 01256 806333 and we can assist you with the process.
